Mixed-wood pellets are the most common. Rubberwood pellets are also an excellent alternative, especially for a stable HHV (High Heating Value). Power stations use eucalyptus pellets to produce electricity.
Uses of wood pellets:
- Generation of electricity
- Industrial fuel
- Household heating system
- Manufacturing of bio-diesel
- Animal bedding (pets)

WOOD SHAVINGS

edit
-
Wood shavings are wood wastes obtained from solid wood in furniture manufacturing facilities. Wood products such as MDF (Medium Density Fibre) boards contain wood shavings.
Uses of wood shavings:
- Manufacturing of furniture
- Animal bedding
- Soil conditioning
Due to natural moisture and odour-absorbent properties, wood shavings are suitable for animal bedding. Pine wood shavings are for ungulate, and mixed-wood shavings are for poultry.
All wood shavings are between 5-15 mm. in length.

Besides making pellets and briquettes, sawdust is abundantly available for mushroom farming. Sawdust and mineral fertilisers are often applied to crops to prevent soil degradation.
Mixed-wood sawdust is the most common type of sawdust.

HERBACEOUS BRIQUETTES
-
-
edit

Rice husks are materials used in producing herbaceous briquettes. Due to unlimited supplies, rice husks are a renewable energy source that always exists.
Unlike woody pellets, herbaceous pellets and briquettes use cassava starch or paraffin as a binder.
