Thai coffee production is geographically divided, with Robusta dominating the southern lowlands and Arabica thriving in the northern highlands. Thailand is among the few countries that commercially cultivate both major coffee species, each grown in distinct environments. Robusta remains popular for its strong, traditional Thai coffee profile, while Arabica is gaining traction in premium markets. Coffee beans are available as green (raw) coffee and roasted coffee.
Robusta beans are bold, earthy, and full-bodied, with pronounced bitterness and high caffeine content. They are commonly ground for instant coffee and espresso blends.
Arabica beans are more balanced and complex, offering citrus, floral, honey, and nutty notes with moderate acidity. They are widely used in coffee shops for single-origin brews and specialty preparations.
